The Plug-N-Play connector lets you click your drink tube on and off the reservoir. If it gets stiff, hard to connect or starts leaking, the o-ring on the tube fitting needs a little food-safe lubricant.
Use one of these food-safe lubricants
- Food-grade silicone lubricant (best option; check the label says "food grade"), from hardware stores
- Glycerin, from most pharmacies
- Beeswax, from hardware or craft stores
Retail reservoirs come with a lubricant packet. Reservoirs that came in a backpack usually don't.
Don't use cooking oils like olive, corn or coconut oil. They make the o-ring swell, which makes the tube hard to connect and can damage the fitting.
How to apply
- Put a small dot of lubricant on the o-ring.
- Spread it so the o-ring looks lightly shiny. Too much can make things worse.
- Click the tube into the reservoir.
One application lasts for months. Store the leftover packet somewhere cool and dark.
O-ring damaged or warped?
Replace it with one of these:
- Plug-N-Play Kit: includes a new o-ring and hose fitting.
- HydraFlex Tube Kit: our standard tube, with a new fitting and bite valve.
- HydraFusion Tube Kit: our insulated tube, with a new fitting and a bite valve with dust cover.
The valve inside the reservoir rarely needs replacing, and it's hard to remove, so start with the o-ring.
If the o-ring wore out early or the fitting cracked, file a warranty claim.
